Binta has advised global entertainment and media companies such as Dreamworks, Time Warner, Universal, the Washington Post Co., & HBO.  She holds leadership roles in the American Theatre Wing, SummerStage Music Festival, and the New York Philharmonic. Binta is a trained musician and multi-instrumentalist who has performed internationally and throughout the United States including Carnegie Hall and live music venues throughout New York City.


She has been recognized as one of the Root's 100 Most Influential African-Americans, Fortune Magazine's 40 under 40 business leaders, Crain's New York 40 under 40, and by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. She has been featured in Marie Claire,  Cosmopolitan MagazineReal Simple magazine, the Washington Post, the New York Times, on CNN and an Intelligence Squared debate featured on NPR.


Binta is a member of several different boards including TCI, Inc., 2U, Inc., (NASDAQ:TWOU), appLOUD, Inc., News Deeply Inc., the African Technology Foundation, Human Rights First, and is a Trustee of Barnard College, Columbia University, the American Theatre Wing (founder of the Tony Awards), and New York City Parks Foundation. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.  Binta is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University (with honors) and Columbia University School of Law.


A lifelong musician, Binta plays electric bass in NYC area bands, is a Tony Voter and theatre buff.
